Decorated Ribbon Ornament This festive ornament can be used as a single decoration or make a long string out of ribbons and ornaments and wrap it around the whole tree. To make it you will need: a thin gold ribbon, a wide decorative ribbon, and small foam balls. Decorating Tools: tape measure, scissors, sewing needle.
1. Take a gold ribbon .75" wide. Cut a piece 14" long. Put the string through a large sewing needle and make a knot at one end of the string. 2. Get 5 round foam ornaments 1" in diameter and take out the hooks. If you can't find those, purchase 1" foam balls (click for materials below), cover it with glue, sprinkle red glitter around the balls and let the ornament dry.
3. Take a 2" wide decorating ribbon. Cut a piece 25" long. Put the gold ribbon through a wide decorative ribbon, leaving 1" edge hanging. Now put the gold ribbon through the center of a foam ball. Put the gold ribbon through the wide ribbon again, so that 4" of the wide ribbon make a loop to the left. Put the gold ribbon through the second foam ball, then put the gold ribbon through the wide ribbon yet again, so that 4" of the ribbon make a loop to the right (see picture). Repeat this process until you use up all 5 foam balls. 4. Cut the edge of the gold ribbon after you make the last loop. Take the needle out of the ribbon and fold it in half. Tie a knot very close to where you cut the wide ribbon. You have just created a hook for the ornament. |
